Livahk Girl Sketch

Keeping up the character designs has been a bit trickier lately with seasonal allergies dragging me down, but I'm still trudging along. This particular design in the new version of the Livahk girl. So, to be clear, whereas the previous female Livahk design was an adult female, this one is a child, and the female equivalent to the Livahk kid I posted a long time ago. She had a previous version, I just don't think I ever posted it here.

This design represents a clear step forward in my apparent unconscious goal of creating what would happen if Tetsuya Nomura suffered minor head trauma and then made a furrier version of Utawarerumono. She's like Aruru with weirder proportions and more flashy details, and that was so not what I was thinking... At least as far as I know. I just wanted her to look mild-mannered and cute, but less bland than the original version.

Snarky self-criticism aside, at this point I'm pretty happy with her design. The biggest question is what to do with her shoulders. On one hand, that same old loosely wrapped fabric thing looks nice on her, but on the other, its' been used on two other designs so far. Which is either fine because it's logical that the tribe would have common clothing styles, or bad that I'm being so redundant. I tried other looks, and none of them really felt right for her. So, most likely, short of a brilliant new idea, this is the look I'll go with.

If you think that hand is in an awkward position, I agree. This sketch is for design purposes first, and though I usually try to design in the context of a decent pose, this time I failed. Still, primary mission accomplished anyway.
